AHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN’T TAKE ALL THIS MEMORY MINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i used to tape 120 min every week (back when it was really good, kevin seal days [i am that old]) and make mix tapes from the songs i loved.
i still regret losing the tape i made of the robyn hitchcock & the egyptians episode, with the interview and the best version of “uncorrected personality traits” you’ll ever hear.
it was fucking a capella, guys.
(oh yeah - panic on was fucking awesome. espesh car song.)
I remember during the period when Dave Kendall had left the show but Lewis Largent hadn’t yet become the host, there was an episode where Robyn Hitchcock guest-hosted the entire show. I can remember that he played “The Arms Of Love” and “The Yip Song” acoustically, by himself, but the thing that really stood out about that episode was his between-song banter, which was every bit as nonsensical and hilarious as you’d expect. I had a tape of that episode, but I had years and years of 120 Minutes episodes on tape, and of course they’re all gone now, lost to the sands of time.
I’m sure I’ll mention 120 Minutes, and occasions where I was watching it, at least 100 more times during the life of this blog.
P.S. I had to google to find out that Kevin Seal was the host before Dave Kendall. Your old school cred trumps mine own.
hells yeah it does.
heh,
hi.
